Brick or Potato

Anonymously Send a Personalised Brick Or Potato

Are personalised potatoes the new valentines card?

I remember, though it was a while ago, being in school when Valentine’s Day came around. In order to get us in the tradition of giving cards and, possibly, to help children turn their crush into their partner, we had the opportunity of giving Valentine’s cards to those who we had a slight fascination with.

In keeping with the Valentine’s tradition, the school arranged for drawers, with the names of each student on them and, during the day, we would sneak over to the drawers and carefully put the card inside the draw of our crush without being spotted to let them know that someone had the hots for them, without fear of them knowing it was you.

Fast forward a number of years and those days seem long gone. The beauty of young love and trying to anonymously hand out cards to let someone know that someone is crushing on them are dead and buried and instead, in today’s world of social media, it seems easier to give someone a poke on Facebook or send a dick pic on Instagram to let them know you care.

But, alas, we all long for a bit of nostalgia, a way to let someone know that we like them (without sharing our identity to them) and, sometimes, to take it one step further, to give them something that will really let them know that you care.

Sure, we all know about a card, flowers and chocolates but they’ve been done before. In today’s modern world, being different is key to winning the heart of your crush but how can you do this without letting them know it was you?

The answer might not be what you expect.

That’s right.

Imagine it now, your crush is getting up in the morning on Valentine’s day, rummaging through the post to look how many people have posted cards to them through their door and then suddenly, there’s a ring on the doorbell and the delivery driver provides them with a package.

What’s inside? Who could it be from?

As they open the packaging wondered if they ordered something during the previous weeks drunken escapades, they are suddenly greeted by everyone’s favourite vegetable – the potato. Confusion suddenly dawns on them as they wonder why they ordered a solitary potato and suddenly they notice the inscription that is adorned to the front – “I think you’re very a-peeling, Love, your secret admirer”

Once the initial confusion disappears, they’re suddenly greeting with a number of questions:

Who sent me a potato?

Why would they send me a potato?

Why didn’t they send me a card?

Who is my secret admirer?

Now, it might sound like a joke at first, they may see the funny side and start ringing around their friends asking if they sent them a potato. However, once the host of “no” replies comes into their phone, they then start to believe it’s true, and the hunt is on for the mysterious potato sender.

The next part is up to you, do you reveal yourself as this mystery person? Do you keep it a secret? Do you send them a personalised brick now to reinforce the message of love?

Whatever you decide to do next, there is one thing that’s for certain, the personalised potato will definitely receive far more attention that the numerous cards that they receive.

So, why not do something different this Valentine’s Day and stand out from the rest by sending your crush a personalised Valentines potato to let them know that you really care.
