As if you needed telling anyway, but Love Island is, and has been, one of the most watched reality tv programmes currently on TV. There’s just something about bringing 12 completely random people (although we know they’re already insta-famous) into a lovely little holiday home with a love little pool and nice view, and watching them try and make a relationship that’ll last forever.
But while watching this series in particular all I could pick up on was all the quotes the islanders were using, and it got me thinking what are the most used quotes currently in Love Island? What I will say, while reading these all important Love Island quotes, is to just imagine sending one of these quotes on a potato to your friend, or potential lover!! 10. Is it too soon to spoon?
The amount of people that couple up and instantly start cuddling on their first night together is crazy, but then you get the odd people who genuinely contemplate whether it’s too soon to start cuddling in bed. I think what they’re really asking, is should I cuddle my partner in bed and get an awkward b……
9. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket!
I mean, this comment is used globally, but in the villa it just seems like everyone has been to Asda to stock up on eggs before taking the flight.. I too would also like to see the size of this basket and how many eggs our islanders have to pay around with!
8. I’m loyal
Whilst this saying isn’t overly used in this series of Love Island, 2018’s series was unreal for this comment. With one girl especially (no names), it was actually so annoying listening to that comment every other sentence.. “I’m loyal… I’m loyal”..
7. You tick all the right boxes
I mean, similar to that of the eggs in basket comment, every islander has to go through this comment at least once in their love island experience. It’s almost that common, it feels scripted that every islander must confirm their boxes are being ticked to the camera and the public; but who are we to judge.
6. I’m not gonna lie, my heads been turned
Wow, I mean in Love Island 2019 this comment is used every time a new person comes into the villa. Let’s take Casa Amor for example, 6 new girls, 6 new boys.. a lot of heads are being turned and the islanders just can’t help but drop the comment. To be fair, I do believe it’s extremely easy to have your head turned, I mean you might spend the entire time with these people, but you are only human after all.
5. My type on paper
Wow.. I mean we’re revisiting the comments about the eggs again here. It is as if the islanders must write down their perfect partner down before they actually jump into their Uber to the villa. I mean, come on, if you’re in a club and a girl/boy comes up to you, you really don’t drop the my type on paper comment do you! No I’m asking.. do you? Also, just imagine having this comment with your name sent to you in the post, written on an anonymous potato.. You heard that right!
4. I’ve got a text
We all get a little on edge when we hear that phone pinging, but when the islander belts out them 4 words, it makes me feel oh so much more real. *Phone message*… I’VE GOT A TEXT!!!! I mean, I don’t parade round to the wife, kids, parents and aunties when I get a message but at the same time, I’m not in the villa, you know.
3. The person I’d like to couple up with, is
I get it right, the whole part of the show is to decide who you want to couple up with to ensure you can spend more time with the girl/boy who you are interested in, but to make it so formal, well, it’s made it a popular love island quote hasn’t it? Let’s face it, that scheduled 7/8 second pause before they say the name of the person get’s them palms sweating.
2. I’d be lying if I said I weren’t interested
Now, some people will be reading this and thinking, why and is this quote number 2 in the list.. Well, hear me out.. How many times has an islander been pulled for a chat with someone they’re not couple up with? and whether they’re just being polite or not, it always seems to be the case that they’d be lying if they said they weren’t somewhat interested.. Whether they make something of this conversation is a different story, but I personally hear this comment all the time when someone has a chat. How can everyone be interested in everyone? I don’t know.
1. It is what it is
Love Island 2019 especially has found a lovely home for this comment.. “It is what it is”.. I mean Tommy said it like 413 times in the first week… Amber 212, Michael 882 times.. (numbers may be slightly exaggerated). But the fact still stands this has to be the most used quote I’ve heard in this season of Love Island.
